Was just browsing the inventory of a dealership close to me and stumbled upon this! Man, it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen a clean 2nd gen Camry out on the roads! These things are virtually non existen t nowadays!
This one is a 1988, with -get this - less than 40,000 miles!
Would LOVE to hear the story behind this.
I’m sure it’ll sell very soon, but here’s the link while it’s still up:

As much as I like older cars, I will never own one with those motorized belts. I have a horror story about being grabbed around the neck and stuffed into the dashboard by one of those dumb things.

I saw a wagon version today. Not nearly as clean, but not bad at all.

One time I shared a link to a 1988 Camry AllTrac LE with a manual transmission. Had I known it was probably the only one left on this continent, I might have bought it... MIGHT... Or buy another dubious Tercel, whatever.

That brings me back. My first real car was one of these (can’t remember if it was an 89 or something else, but 89 rings a bell)

The motorized belt tried to strangle you?.... Was the car haunted?....

I have yet to see a wagon version! Must be super rare

Had an ‘87 wagon 5M - dead reliable.

Would you be more inclined to purchase a clean 1988 Camry AllTrac LE with a manual? Or a 3rd gen Camry V6 Coupe....

Remember when we put you on Tercel probation? That’s still in effect.

Kinda brings me back too. My grandpa had this generation Camry, but in burgundy. With a red interior, if I remember correctly

It was after a test drive in then newly introduced Corrado SLC. I opened the door at the same time I reached for the hood release (so I could check out the new VR6 engine). The belt retracted, grabbed me by the neck, and pinned my head against the dash. I didn’t know how to release the belt and obviously couldn’t close the door so I called out for help. My best friend nearly wet himself laughing maniacally at my predicament, and I swore never to buy any car that had those belts. That Corrado was a sweet ride, and is ridiculously valuable these days, and in retrospect maybe I could have learned to live with those dumb things...

Coupe. The XV10 Camry had 90s-Lexus build quality, plus they don’t rus t out nearly as badly as an 80s tin-thin Toyota. Plus 2 doors = cOoOOOOoL!

I see them every once in awhile. I even distinctly remember one back in the mid-00s that had, for some reason, been re badged as a Lexus. ( The 1st gen ES was kind of a federalized JDM Camry of that gen, but there was no wagon version of it.)

I just saw one of these today and I was thinking of how I miss the panda one my mom had when I was just a little one. First car I probably rode in ever!

Agreed . I’ve definitely seen this Camry on Autotrader before (saved search for Camrys from 1996 and older) . Can’t help but wonder what kind of ownership history would explain the extremely low miles.

Yeah, I’m truly curious about this C amry. It’s at a dealership right by my house, so I might just have to stop by and ask about it. I mean, 40,000 miles on a 31 year old car? Hard to believe some one only drove it about 1 ,300 miles per year. Only thing the carfax shows, is that its lived in Minnesota its whole life.

If it’s near you, I think it might be worth checking out. That being said, I’d be almost suspicious of the low miles. Moving parts need to move every once in a while, and I’d be concerned that this car might have sat for too long at some point.
